In Tokyo, an inscrutable and abnormal territory known as Hell's Gate appeared ten years ago and altered the sky and decimated the landscape. The heavenly bodies disappeared, replaced by false stars which correspond to those who possess various special abilities. These individuals who are able to murder in cold blood are known as Contractors. In order to gain these abilities, one must the pay the price of losing their human emotions and empathy. Various nations around the world use Contractors as spies and agents, often resulting in violent battles for information on Hell's Gate.
