this is a rather sad episode... though it seems like part of the big problem has been solved. the play which the Kakunojo Yuuyama Troupe has been acting seem to come to a finale in this episode. this play is different from the others though, because "Nakaiya plays the role of Nakaiya, and the Eternal Assassin is the Eternal Assassin". everybody will be acting as their true selves in the play.

at the beginning, Yuuyama announced to the audience that the play will be the finale. then, four people in British uniforms were introduced. they are code named: Knight, Rook, Queen, and Bishop. it is explained, that they will be carrying out an unofficial operation and so "the British Empire, the British Imperial Navy, takes no responsibility for your actions, decisions, or survival. the operation was not too clearly shown, but they sneaked into the area where the play was taking place and fired their canons at the place.

we were shown, in this episode, a part of Kanna's memories from when he was a child. it seems that his father took his mother away from him and rode off in a horse carriage. Kanna chased after the carriage, but as he was running, the carriage flung a rock from the ground with its wooden wheels and it hit Kanna's eye. this is the reason why he is wearing an eye patch now. it is evident that Kanna is affected very much by this because later on in the episode, Akidzuki was protecting Yuuyama and Kanna realises the similarity with the scene that he was seeing, and the scene with the horse carriage. this causes him to point his Remington pistol at Akidzuki.

the climax of the episode started after that, with the finale of the troupe's play. as the play went by, the four people who were wearing British uniform earlier on were sneaking into the area where the play was held. then, they were seen preparing a canon, aiming at the play's stage. it seemed that Soutetsu had written the play very well. when he was fishing the Lord's Head out of the water, Nakaiya and Kanna appeared and ordered him to hand the Lord's Head over. he told Nakaiya that their current location will be the play's final "stage". true enough, Akidzuki slashed the side of the stage tent and revealed the port where at the end stood Soutetsu, Nakaiya and Kanna. the troupe charged towards them, and immediately engaged each other. the audience were all thinking that this are all just an act, so cheered them for the good show.

amidst the chaotic fight, the canons were fired and started shelling the surrounding water. this went on for a bit, then Ebisu suddenly appeared with a chain and tied Nakaiya to the boat with it. it seems that Ebisu have to keep holding onto the chain in order for it to be kept tied around Nakaiya. this result in him sacrificing his own life as the canon fired on last time and it hit the boat which he and Nakaiya was on, causing a huge explosion. Ebisu wanted to take revenge on Nakaiya very badly, and so he doesn't mind sacrificing his life.

Akidzuki destroyed the container which was holding the Lord's Head, but the Lord's Head flew away and possessed Kamajiro. the episode ended with Akidzuki passing Ebisu's ripped and blood-stained head scarf to Yuuyama.

for my review of the last episode, I stated that the "school" which Ayu was referring to will be explained later on in the series. well, it was explained at the beginning of this episode =). Ayu said that from that day onwards, the big tree in the middle of the forest will be their "school". with that in mind, everything which Ayu said or did or behaved in the last episode will make sense now.

after Ayu left Yuuichi in the last episode, he had been depressed, whether he's at home or at school. Naiyuki is always cheering Yuuichi up in this episode, like buying him strawberry sundae, and doing homework with him. Akiko also did her part in cheering Yuuichi up. although it is good that Naiyuki is concerned about him, she is always lying to her feelings. there are quite a number scenes in this episode where Naiyuki looked sad after Yuuichi mentioned something about Ayu, or trying to do something related to Ayu. the reason for her sadness is obviously because she likes Yuuichi, anyways it was stated during one of the flashbacks in this episode where Naiyuki confessed her love for Yuuichi when they were young. in her point of view, Yuuichi is caring about Ayu more than her.

there are some flashbacks in this episode where it shows what happened seven years ago when they were young. Kanon always have flashbacks in its episodes which shows the similarities of the past and the present. for this episode, the first flashback was when Yuuichi and Ayu was at the big tree in the middle of the forest, where they discuss on the rules of their new "school". the next flashback is when Yuuichi and Ayu were walking through a "school"'s forest together. while walking, Ayu spotted a small glass jar on the ground. she used it to keep the angel stuffed toy and said that the last wish is for either her (in the future), or someone who needs a wish to come true. afterwards, they buried it in the ground. this glass jar with the angel stuffed toy inside is actually the present Ayu's lost item. the final flashback shows Naiyuki and Yuuichi in the shopping district. Yuuichi was crying (once again, I've watched the 2002 version, so I know the reason for this) and Naiyuki was trying to cheer him up. while cheering him up with a snow bunny she made, Naiyuki also confessed her love to Yuuichi. Yuuichi didnt say anything, and then hits the snow bunny out of Naiyuki's hands, leaving Naiyuki shocked.

the ending part of this episode was shocking! a man, whom I think should be the principal, went into Yuuichi and Naiyuki's class and called them out to the school corridor. there, he explained to them that Akiko was involved in a car accident and was brought to the hospital. the episode ended with a scene depicting Akiko's car accident and a very shocked Naiyuki.
